Earn Vitality points for taking steps to prevent breast cancer
Vitality provides everything from general knowledge on breast cancer, to various types of screenings and treatments, and other recommendations based on risk. There are even “Decision Points” that earn you Vitality points for assessing risk and taking steps to improve prevention.
For example:
Should I have a BRCA gene test*? A breast cancer gene test, or BRCA (say "BRAH-kuh") gene test, can help people find out if they have inherited a gene change. This change can make them much more likely to get breast cancer – and for women, ovarian cancer.
This test is only recommended for those who have a strong family history of breast cancer or family history of ovarian cancer. But most people with a family history of breast or ovarian cancer – even a strong family history – do not have BRCA gene changes.
*Be sure to check with your health insurance carrier or work with a Quantum Health Care Coordinator to determine your coverage for this test.
What should I do if I’m at high risk? If you have a personal or family history of breast cancer, you need to talk to your doctor to determine your risk level. The information you get will help you understand your choices so that you can talk to your doctor about them.
