How to shine your light during ‘Random Acts of Kindness Week,’ Feb. 12-18

by Concordia Plans
Take a moment to think about how you feel when someone shows you kindness. You probably feel happy and connected to the person. It warms your heart and maybe even makes you want to pay forward that kindness to others. And when you do, you most likely will have the same feelings.

“ … let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 ESV

Being kind and practicing acts of kindness – shining your light – can have positive effects on your mental health, as well as for the person on the receiving end of your kindness. Studies have shown that engaging in acts of kindness can:

  • Reduce stress.
  • Improve your mood.
  • Increase feelings of social connectedness.
  • Improve your self-esteem and sense of self-worth.

Concordia Plans cares about your emotional well-being, so we encourage you to shine your light by spreading kindness and love, especially during “Random Acts of Kindness Week” Feb. 12-18. During these seven days, aim for one random act of kindness each day.
